The holiday season is about to begin! We all want to get the best present for our nearest and dearest! We often use our credit card deals to pay for our purchases during this time of year. We all know that with their help we can get everything we want and pay back to our credit company later.
Holidays are supposed to bring only good news and happy memories, but it does not always happen this way. With the beginning of a holiday season scammers become more and more ingenious crating new ways to steal the numbers of your credit card deals.
The scammer calls your telephone number and presents himself as a representative of Visa or MasterCard Security and Fraud Department. The caller already has your personal information and your credit card number as well. The scammer says that an unusual purchase - Anti-Telemarketing device for $400 was made with your credit card.
Of course the credit card owner is very surprised as he or she has never purchased such a thing! The caller says that there will be fraud investigation and asks you to verify the procession of your credit card by giving him the last 3 numbers on your card. These are very important numbers as they are security numbers that you use to make online purchases to prove that the card is yours. Usually the credit card owners give these numbers without any hesitation! The scammer says that he or she only needs them to verify that the card was not stolen and hangs up.
The credit card owner thinks that he or she did not give a credit card number, so it will not cause any problem, but it is not true at all! Don't ever give anyone the last three numbers on your card, instead, call MasterCard or Visa and ask for the verification of their call.
The real credit card company will not ask anything on the card as they already know it being the issuer. By giving the last numbers of your card, you think that you are protecting yourself from fraud, but it works visa versa! You are actually giving scammers a chance to make any online purchases they want using your credit card and as a result they spend your money!
As we all know - owing a credit card is big responsibility. You are not only responsible to your credit card company or a bank; first of all you are responsible to yourself! Credit cards help you to build a stable financial future, but if you don't use them correctly or don't keep your credit information private, credit card will ruin your life.
As you can see the credit card information should be kept private! If you don't want scammers to use your money, never share your credit information with anyone! Every day scammers create more and more ways to steal from you, so you should always watch out! Then holidays will bring you only good and happy moments and your credit card deals will be safe!
