How to Divorce Credit Card Deals

How to Divorce Credit Card Deals

When a family life ends in a divorce it means someone's personal illusions crumbling. And that is not enough - a credit history is spoilt as well. Ex-married couple may be turned down when applying for a loan of any kind. Lending institutions see in divorced spouses no financial stability and creditworthiness. That is no less powerful blow to feel your financial weakness than to live with your ruined matrimonial status.

But there is no place for emotions when your financial affairs are getting worse. I have experienced the same divorce proceedings and their aftereffects and I would like to tell why a divorce is reflected on a credit score and how to improve that.

So if you are in the situation close to marriage pick up the information to protect yourself from any possible bitter effects. Well, that is not the most pleasant thing to think about on the eve of a wedding party but ... there are just two ways for marriage to end - not to end or to end in divorce.

And as you may guess, the core of the problem is whether the credit card accounts of yours and your husband are joint or separate. That is a fateful matter for your credit eligibility and financial wellness in the future that is hard to predict. By the way, no matter what credit card company you deal with. Well, it's time to clear up things.

So, having a joint credit card account, both you and your spouse are obliged to pay card bills and if there appears a credit card debt both spouses are responsible for paying it off. Being married my husband and I had a desire to get an instant credit card approval so we filled in a joint application. It contained the data on our financial capacities, assets and our credit histories that were marked "good". The lenders took our couple as a low risk and financially stable consumers so we got our no annual fee credit card with ease.

We started our credit card practice in the following way - I paid with the card and my husband handled all the card bills. And as it was determined, the payment information was reported in the names of both of us.

We were enjoying our financial wellness as the credit card company extended us dainty lowest interest rates and point rewards on the basis of our high income and unstained credit histories. And such a sweet life made my hubby relaxed and it didn't fail to reflect on the payment situation. Late payments and exceeded credit limit month in, month out haunted us and as a result affected my credit score ignoring the fact that it was not me who acted wrong.

And the surprise was far from pleasant when I was obliged to pay off the card bills due to the divorce decree.

What a bad unfairness! But it is unfair just judging in an emotional way. The main reason was in we filled out the joint credit card application form! That is the end of the story with a good beginning.

Thankfully, now I have a good credit score again, and it is a long story to tell about how I have rebuilt it. Here comes just the only conclusion - always hold your individual account. Your marrow will be thankful to you as well, just in case.

I think it's not a pleasant thing to think about credit cards when you are going to marriage.

And I think it is normal. If the relations are strong nothing will spoil them.

06:37:54 AM Thursday, December 18, 2008 Student Credit Cards vs. Loans

The economic recession affected not just financial sphere, it also affected politics, and even education. The US government hurled pretty much all effort into surmounting the crisis and restoring the economic sector. Other sectors are paid less attention at the moment. But New York State Authorities try to control all sectors and departments and react to the emerging problems on time.
The Governor of New York David A. Paterson announced the upcoming launch of a low-cost student loan program created to help 45,000 students of public and private colleges in New York State cope with tuition increases and secure credit. The final version of the program is still being discussed. But its appearance is just a matter of time.

As the financial crisis keeps raging, banks and credit companies are incurring more losses and desperately trying to get back on track. The governmental financial rescue programs do not seem to bring the banking sector any significant relief so far. And banks try to handle problems on their own.
No secret and no credit card news to anyone that in the attempts to make it up for the losses, banks raise interest rates on loans, cut credit lines, charge higher fees and tighten lending standards. Business loans, mortgages and credit cards became harder to qualify for. The latest quarterly survey conducted by the Federal Reserve shows that banks have tightened standards even more over the past three months.

The US economy slowdown and credit crisis have had American consumers by the leg. Everyone tries to deal with this difficult situation in their own way. Some people do their best to pay off credit card outstanding balances as soon as possible, so they do not accumulate additional interest. Some consumers try to reduce their plastics use frequency. Others just give up paying with credit cards.
According to the results of the recent survey, about 10% of American credit consumers have been spotted taking out cash advances on their plastics more often than in the past. High balances, as the survey showed, have become a heavy burden for cardholders. Who can save the situation? Americans anchor their hopes on the future President. Who they find the best candidate to fix the US economy?
