American Express credit cardholders can now check in their first bag free of charge on Delta flights. Read on to find out about this and other advantages offered by the airline to the members of Delta Air Lines frequent flyer program.

American Express cardholders can take advantage of this new benefit from Delta starting June 1. This offer is available for consumers and small businesses owning Gold, Platinum and Reserve Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards. Up to nine people in the same reservation can check in one bag for free.

Usually Delta charges a fee of $23-25 for first checked bag on a domestic flight, the fee varies depending on how you register your baggage – online or at the airport. Starting June 1 American Express SkyMiles Cardmembers can save up to $50 per person on every round trip with Delta. It will amount to considerable savings if you fly with your family or if you travel frequently on business or for personal purposes. The procedure will be simple. Delta says the fee will be waived for SkyMiles cardholders when they check-in. First and business class Delta passengers have been checking in two bags free of charge for a while now, and after this new update to the company’s frequent flyer bonus program economy class passengers are able to enjoy this valuable benefit as well.

Competing with other airlines and their rewards programs and battling for customers, Delta Air Lines in partnership with American Express offers their cardmembers numerous valuable advantages and first-class services. There are no earning caps and cardholders can earn as many frequent flyer miles as they can. For all Delta charges cardholders earn double miles, and for all other eligible purchases - one mile per dollar spent. If you wish to use to miles to book a Delta flight, you can use them to pay the entire price or a portion of it. There are other bonuses like a domestic companion certificate upon annual renewal of membership. Miles you earn can be redeemed for airfare, hotel stays, car rentals, merchandise and more, and at discounted rates. All Delta SkyMiles cardmember enjoy unique top quality customer service, excellent travel and purchase protection. Delta is proud to announce that last year brought more benefits to frequent flyer program members, which includes the ability to earn status, get upgrades, etc.

Delta does not want to rest on its laurels and plans to implement even more updates by the end of the year. There will be improvements in the Preferred Seats bonus. A greater allocation should ensure best seats for a bigger number of loyal customers, even if they make a last minute reservation. In September reward upgrades are to be expected for all Gold, Platinum and Diamond Medallion members. Online booking is in the process of reconstruction, videlicet display of pricing and availability, a greater variety of search options and flight amenities are to be added and more. Delta keeps expanding its partnership with Alaska Air and in the fall 2010 upgrade on Alaska for Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallions will become available. And more to come in 2011, promises Delta Air Lines. They are working hard to offer best services to its passengers and best experiences starting with online booking and throughout the whole trip.
