Exquisite Credit Card Deals for Belgians

Exquisite Credit Card Deals for Belgians

Banking is one of the major industries in Belgium. There is a great variety of banks, so you will not be limited in your choice. It has been estimated that in Belgium there is the largest amount of banks per capita than in any other country.

Researches also show that Belgium is a very expensive country. This means you have to think over carefully your finance management tactics. Whether you prefer to have a debit card, or a credit card, or use cash think about what will finally come out of it.

As all credit card issuers around the world, Belgian credit card companies are doing their best in order to penetrate into credit cards' market niche and stay there as long as they can. Credit cards are a very promising financial instrument that is likely to bring a lot of profit to banks, as well as benefits to cardholders.

The Belgian credit card market is very profitable. Its annual revenues are more than ?100 million. 90% of this amount comes from annual fees and only 10% from interest rates. This shows that Belgian cardholders are very disciplined and pay off their revolving balance in time.

Banks in Belgium are now challenged by getting revenues from interest rates and not only from fees. But this is a peculiarity of Belgian credit card market. Belgians, unlike Anglo-Saxons, do not like to borrow money. Revolving credit is not so popular here as it is in America, for example.

Credit cards are not accepted everywhere in Belgium, as they are in America or Britain. Small hotels, shops and restaurants do not accept them. Sometimes a 5% charge is added to a payment. Visa and MasterCard known in Europe as EuroCard are the most widely accepted plastics. Then there comes American Express which is accepted mainly in middle and upper class locations. Diners Club is even less popular.

Belgian credit card deals are usually more expensive. Annual fee can make up from ?20 to ?50. Of course this depends on a type of plastic you choose. Very often travel insurance or some other forms of insurance are included into the annual fee, as well as some services.

An example of a good credit card can be a Citi Visa. This a flexible and reliable credit card for those who have good or excellent history. It has some attractive features such as:

  • Freedom of choice. This means you do not have to open an account at Citibank.
  • Security. Your digital photo is printed on your card. It is an additional protection against misuse.
  • Simplicity. You can transfer money to any banking account and then cash out. This will not be a cash advance, so you will not pay higher fees, but will get the necessary amount of cash.
  • Excellent service. If you have any questions or if you lose your card customer service is always at your disposal.

Alongside with this, Cit Visa has a good insurance program. In addition to that you get a bonus of ?20 after making the first purchase. This bonus equals to credit card annual fee, so this makes it free.

Citi Visa is just one of the good examples. In order to make the best deal you can make your own background research and choose the best for yourself.

It's curious that credit cards are not accepted everywhere in Belgium, but they are developing rapidly. There tradition not to borrow money is interesting.

06:37:54 AM Thursday, December 18, 2008 Student Credit Cards vs. Loans

The economic recession affected not just financial sphere, it also affected politics, and even education. The US government hurled pretty much all effort into surmounting the crisis and restoring the economic sector. Other sectors are paid less attention at the moment. But New York State Authorities try to control all sectors and departments and react to the emerging problems on time.
The Governor of New York David A. Paterson announced the upcoming launch of a low-cost student loan program created to help 45,000 students of public and private colleges in New York State cope with tuition increases and secure credit. The final version of the program is still being discussed. But its appearance is just a matter of time.

As the financial crisis keeps raging, banks and credit companies are incurring more losses and desperately trying to get back on track. The governmental financial rescue programs do not seem to bring the banking sector any significant relief so far. And banks try to handle problems on their own.
No secret and no credit card news to anyone that in the attempts to make it up for the losses, banks raise interest rates on loans, cut credit lines, charge higher fees and tighten lending standards. Business loans, mortgages and credit cards became harder to qualify for. The latest quarterly survey conducted by the Federal Reserve shows that banks have tightened standards even more over the past three months.

The US economy slowdown and credit crisis have had American consumers by the leg. Everyone tries to deal with this difficult situation in their own way. Some people do their best to pay off credit card outstanding balances as soon as possible, so they do not accumulate additional interest. Some consumers try to reduce their plastics use frequency. Others just give up paying with credit cards.
According to the results of the recent survey, about 10% of American credit consumers have been spotted taking out cash advances on their plastics more often than in the past. High balances, as the survey showed, have become a heavy burden for cardholders. Who can save the situation? Americans anchor their hopes on the future President.
