Rewarding Credit Card Deals Need Close Attention
[10/23/2007]
If you travel a lot and would like to start saving your money, you need to think over one of the numerous attractive and beneficial airline credit card deals. And until you grow your own wings you can use the multiple credit card offers with air miles rewards.
You must remember though that these plastics are not for those who carry balance from month to month. If you do carry balance, then interest rate will become too hefty for you to pay. Another point to consider is how often you charge your card. If this figure is low you may pay more in annual fee, that an occasional air ticket.
Here we tried to compare five bank credit card deals listed on our web-resource that offer various travel rewards. We rated them in a number of categories.
- Annual percentage rate. Well, it is natural, that when choosing a credit card you first of all pay attention to the interest rate that a bank charges on this card. Among the offers that we included into this small survey HSBC Platinum MasterCard with Cash or Fly Rewards has the lowest interest rate of 11.49%. Then there comes Capital One No Hassle Miles Rewards with 13.4%. Citibank offers Citi Bronze AAdvantage MasterCard with APR 17.47%. The highest interest rate is 18.24% offered by Chase Bank and American Express.
- Annual fee. Different credit deals offer different annual fees. Generally the higher the fee, the more rewards you will eventually get. American Express's Delta SkyMiles Gold Card has the highest of $85. Though, if you are a qualified American Express card member this plastic will cost you $30. But the $85 deal this may turn to be the best travel rewards deal. Chase bank's United Mileage Plus Signature Visa an annual fee of $60. During the first year this card will be fee free. Other cards have no annual fee. This can be better demonstrated in the table below.
| Chase bank United Mileage Plus Signature Visa | HSBC Platinum MasterCard with Cash or Fly Rewards | Citi Bronze AAdvantage MasterCard | American Express Delta SkyMiles Gold Card | Capital One No Hassle Miles Rewards | |
| APR | 18.24% | 11.49% | 17.47% | 18.24% | 13.4% |
| Annual Fee | $60 | $0 | $0 | $85 | $0 |
- Rewards. This is the most interesting part of this comparison. When it comes to rewards a person starts to hesitate and doubt. Well, first of all you need to define for yourself what is the most important for you: concierge service, or bonus miles, or discounts at major airlines and hotels. Among the cards mentioned above American Express Delta SkyMiles Gold Card may seem to be the most beneficial. It offers not only 15000 bonus miles, 2 miles per $1 spent, additional opportunities to earn free bonus miles, discounts at shops, restaurants and hotels, but also exquisite service, security and convenience.
Once you have found a credit card suitable for you, think over once again its terms and conditions. But, note that they change from time to time. So be prepared. Generally, travel rewards cards are very beneficial if treated right.
